Certified Education Assistant
We are seeking a warm and friendly Certified Educational Assistant who is sensitive to the feelings and needs of others, able to relate well to children and co-workers, and willing to fulfill responsibilities in accordance with the school’s Adventist principles.
The best candidate will be proactive in meeting the needs of students with exceptionalities, humble in their assistance to the teacher, and passionate about Christian education.
Our Educational Assistants Are Expected To:
- Develop a positive, respectful working relationship with all students and staff, particularly those within their charge.
- Exhibit exceptional professionalism in their interactions with staff, students, and parents.
- Provide quality care and assistance to students with exceptionalities, based on established Learning Plans, including modification of instructional learning.
- Acquire and organize instructional material as directed by the teacher and/or spec ed coordinator.
- Attend all IEP meetings for assigned student(s) and relevant staff meetings and professional development sessions.
- Provide teacher-driven instruction and remediation for assigned student(s) as appropriate.
- Keep detailed notes of significant milestones and areas of concern in the student's learning, especially for evaluative purposes.
- Keep teacher, spec ed coordinator, and administration informed of concerns based on employment, role, tasks, or student interactions.
- Supervise outdoor playground activities.
Qualifications:
- CEAs must hold a valid Certified Educational Assistant certificate or equivalent, or be actively enrolled and working towards completion of a relevant program.
- Non-Violent Crisis Intervention
- Basic First Aid
- General knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel and Word) and Google Docs
- Confidence and experience with behaviour management, social skill development, and academic support relevant to a spectrum of students and grades.
- Excellent communication and problem solving skills.
- Strong belief in the value of Christian education.
